Polycarbonate 3d Printing Temperature

Successfully printing in polycarbonate requires a hot end that reaches temperatures of 290 to 315 degrees celsius.
Polycarbonate 3d printing temperature. Therefore polycarbonate filament settings are a higher printing temperature the closer to 300c the better. Most cheap 3d printers are not capable of going above 300c so 290c works well for these 3d printers. Your print bed temperature must be able to reach 140 to 145 degrees celsius. Polycarbonate filament can generally be 3d printed at temperatures between 260 310c though generally a good temperature is around 290c.
Slower print speeds are preferred as an increase in temperature is required for faster prints. First of all polycarbonate is heat resistant up to 116c. Polycarbonate 3d printing can be difficult if you don t take the proper precautions. The material is prone to warping and shrinkage so it s imperative that a consistent temperature be maintained.
When printing with pla be sure to keep cooling fans on. You can print polycarbonate at lower than 290c but you need to be very careful. Pc 3d filament slowly softens when heated unlike pla which has a high transition temperature. Extruding temperature for polycarbonate filament is generally around 260 c depending on the printer.
It also has a glass transition temperature of 150c. Pla prints best at around 210 c though it is very versatile and can work well anywhere from 180 to 230 c.
